Nashville Predators and Churchill Mortgage named to Best Workplaces list

In addition to the seven new midsize companies (125-399 employees) making the Best Workplaces list for the first time, two Middle Tennessee companies are celebrating 10 years in a row this year.

The Nashville Predators and Churchill Mortgage have both been rated among the best places to work by their employees every year for a decade.

The big winner in the medium-sized business category is Acopia LLC, a residential mortgage lender with 127 local employees.

Nashville Predators

While the Predators are known for being a great on-ice hockey team, employees of the organization say the off-ice team is also special. What’s the secret ingredient to being named one of Middle Tennessee’s Best Workplaces for 10 straight years? Preds chief operating officer Michelle Kennedy said she has the best staff in the business.

“Our employees make our organization the special place that it is, and we are incredibly proud to have been selected as a Top Workplace award winner for the tenth time,” said Kennedy. “Thank you for recognizing our commitment to creating a great place to work; we look forward to celebrating this achievement with all of Smashville and thanking the best people in the business.”

The Predators organization employs 210 people, and many cite a fun environment, team-oriented mentality and fun people as the main reasons they enjoy working for the Preds.

“I work in an environment that is ready to listen and adapt,” said one employee. “We are on a mission to help our community and beyond. This place is special.”

Another employee added, “I’m made to feel like I matter and so are my ideas. Career growth is important here.”

Being part of a national sports league whose energy pervades the whole region doesn’t hurt either.

“The collaboration and drumbeat for the entire Nashville community makes every day an exciting new day and an opportunity to improve and work hard.”

The Predators organization has two goals: to make the Bridgestone Arena the No. 1 arena in the United States and to bring the Stanley Cup to Nashville. According to the Predators, all employees are united behind this goal and are working hard to ensure fans and subscribers have a memorable experience every game.

The Predators reopened Bridgestone Arena to full capacity in the 2021-22 season, energizing the city of Nashville en route to their eighth straight playoff appearance. The arena was also nominated for its 14th consecutive Pollstar Venue of the Year Award, having finished 2021 first in the United States and the world for concert ticket sales.

The Predators organization also supports the community through the Nashville Predators Foundation.

Churchill Mortgage

Churchill Mortgage has consistently been at the top of the best places to work in Middle Tennessee in the midsize business category. Employees cite the work-life balance, the mix of autonomy and responsibility and great people, from colleagues to management, as reasons they enjoy working for Churchill.

“I work for an amazing company that lives up to its values,” one employee said. “I have an amazing manager, team and colleagues and I help people make one of the most important decisions of their lives every day.”

Another said: “My manager cares about my success and I am treated with respect. When I make a mistake or need extra help, I am given attention and care, not of anger or backlash.”

Mike Hardwick, President of Churchill Mortgage, which has been named Top Workplace 10 consecutive years, is a testament to the company’s dedication to cultivating a great team and culture.

“Our people are our most important assets and what allows us to provide a different experience from other lenders,” Hardwick said. “Their commitment to this service has led to tremendous growth, allowing us to better support families nationwide on the path to a smarter mortgage plan.

Churchill was founded in 1992 and is owned by its employees. An industry leader in full-service, debt-free mortgages, the company offers conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA residential mortgages in 40 states. Churchill Mortgage is a wholly owned subsidiary of Churchill Holdings Inc.
