Who is Louise Khurshid? Salman Khurshid’s wife involved in embezzlement case
Louise Khurshid, wife of Congress leader Salman Khurshid, is making headlines for allegedly embezzling over Rs 71 lakh. The amount was received in March 2010 by her charitable foundation, Dr Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust. She and her Trust Secretary, Athar Farooqui, received an unsecured warrant for the same.

As of March 2010, the Trust had received over 71 lakh rupees from the central government to distribute wheelchairs and other equipment to people with disabilities in 17 districts of Uttar Pradesh.
In July 2011, however, an investigation revealed that the money allocated to the NGO had not been received by the 192 beneficiaries. It was alleged that the members of the Trust board were corrupt. At that time, Salman Khurshid was a minister in the UPA government. The duo, however, denied the allegations.
On top of that, even the camps Louise Khurshid claimed to organize for disabled children only existed on paper.
In 2017, a total of 17 FIRs in various districts were registered against her by the Economic Crimes Wing of the UP Police.
In December 2019, an indictment in the case was also filed. He alleged that unfair means were used to collect money from the central government under the pretext of ensuring the welfare of people with disabilities.
